Australia Road Trip. Day 5; Port Fairy to Adelaide

We left Port Fairy just after 6am, encountering light rain, and had an uneventful trip into South Australia, where the terrain soon changes to flat plains, the black road stretching far into the distance flanked by yellow grass, and a few scattered trees, and the scenery remains the same for hours (pictured below).

In South Australia on the side of the road they have these posts in the ground to mark where accidents have occurred. A red post means someone has been injured and black posts means someone has died. Outside the town of Millicent, on a long straight stretch of road, we counted a group of 7 black posts all together. It's very sobering.

By 130pm we were pulling into driveway of the Stamford Grand Hotel (pictured below) at Glenelg, a beach side suburb of Adelaide. It was great to finally get out of the car. We were upgraded to a eighth floor room that had an ocean view.

Feeling a little peckish we adjoined to the hotel's restaurant where we were just in time for High Tea. (pictured below)

Then it was off to the city in this a tram (above) that runs from outside the hotel. The main shopping centre is at Rundle Mall, where Louise went into another shopping frenzy I'm afraid, because there was closing down sale at Katie's. Those poor Adelaide woman were no competiton for a girl who has survived the Century 21 clearance store in New York. Catching the tram back to Glenelg I couldn't help thinking Adelaide seems more of a large country town than a city.

At night time, Glenelg's plentiful restaurants are busy, and there is a large variety of food from all around the world.
