In complete contrast to yesterday, Melbourne was overcast, with hot dry winds that howled through the canyons created by the skyscrapers, and threatened to blow us over as we bustled to Queen Victoria Market. Here, Louise was in heaven, as she acted like a kid in a candy store, snapping up bargains with relish. Even I joined in the shopping frenzy purchasing four silk ties from an Asian gentleman for thirty five dollars. It’s best not to ask too many questions......
There is a great food court at the market. We chose the little Indian diner, Drum's Cafe, where an excellent lamb spinach curry, Naan bread, and complimentary pappadum cost $7.50.
Travel Tip; Queen Victoria Market is on Victoria Street and Elizabeth Street, just south of Lygon Street, and is well worth checking out for the amazing bargains.
We continued our shopping frenzy in the main shopping district at Bourke Street where most of the department stores are located. David Jones and Myer have separate his and hers stores.
The inclement weather caused a halt to any further activity, so we retired to the safety of our hotel.
Tomorrow, we are driving along the Great Ocean Road to see the Twelve Apostles, and then continuing onto the little fishing village of Port Fairy to spend the night.
