I'm up at night with insomnia in Australia, so I thought I would fill you in about my upcoming trip to Prague in July. We have secured a nice two bedroom apartment near the Old Market Square in Prague for 3 weeks for about $90 a night. This includes WiFi and all the mod cons. Again this is all booked through Airbnb. This will be our base to explore the surrounding area. I highly recommend renting apartments as it is cheaper than staying at hotels. Plus you can cook your own meals, and it gives you a chance to feel like a local, especially if you stay outside the tourist zone where the locals live.
We will be flying on the Qantas A380 again to Dubai, but having a Stop Over for the night, before flying direct to Prague the next day. That's the geat thing about Qantas partnering up with Emirates that I've talked about before.
I have had a look at a day trip to Dresden in Germany about 2.5 hours by train from Prague. There are some nice towns in the Czech Republic for little day trips.
Further a field there is an overnight train to the delightful city of Krakow in Poland. Budapest in Hungary, again on an overnight train, is high on the list of things to do.
Prague is a good place to stay as it has good connections and not being on the Euro is relatively cheap, and of course, it is very beautiful.
This is just a short trip of about three to four weeks between Semesters at University, but if you are thinking about going somewhere different then consider going to Central Europe, and you definitely must visit Prague.
