Less than four weeks to Central Europe trip and a rough itinerary

It's less than four weeks now to the Central Europe trip. I'm busy writing essays and preparing for exams at University, and haven't learnt one word of Czech. I have been brushing up on my schoolboy German for a side trip to Germany, but it won't help me in Prague.

We'll be flying out of Sydney on the 5th July, stopping over at Dubai, and then flying out the next day to Prague. We have an apartment in Prague not too far from the old town area. We'll flying back on the 29th July to Dubai, staying another night, and then returning to Sydney on the 30th July.

So, it's just a short trip between Semesters at University or College as my American friends call it. I have drawn a rough itinerary, which if you followed the Spain trip will probably turn out completely different.

Day Trip to Dresden, Germany - about 2 hours in the train from Prague

Overnight train to Krakow, Poland - and spend 2 nights in this amazing Polish city.

Day Trips in the train to the Czech spa towns that I can't pronounce.

Possible overnight train to Budapest, Hungary - and then two nights exploring the city. Budapest is supposed to be beautiful.

As I've said before the benefit of Information Technology is that you don't have to lock yourself into an itinerary prepared by a travel agent - you can be your own travel agent. It's very easy to book flights and trains online. With AirBnB you can always find a good apartment at relatively short notice  unless there is some massive event like the Olympics or the World Cup on. Then you will need to book well in advance.
